the fieldtrip I attended on Wednesday was at the New England aquarium. Throughout the day we had the chance to see thousands of marine organisms and mammas in the aquarium. one interesting aspect of the aquarium was the shark and ray tank, they made it look like a very limited coastal ecosystem of mangro forests. I was a little surprised to see how calm the octopus was with its habitat and it basically stayed in the same spot the whole time which I though was strange. As for the stingrays they were pretty slimy, but they had no hesitation swimming right up to your hand. As for the overall fieldtrip it was fun and I enjoyed learning a few things about some of the ecosystems.

1. Define the term salinity. The term of salinity is mainly described as relating to salt or containing salt. 2. If you add salt to a water solution, will a hydrometer float higher or lower in the water? Explain your choice. the hydrometer will float higher because there are more dissolves particles in the water causing things to float. 3. What effect does the addition of salt have on the properties of water? The vapor pressure of the water will decrease causing the boiling point to be higher and the freezing point to be colder. 4. Is it easier to float in the ocean than in a swimming pool? Explain why or why not. because the amount of dissolved particles in the ocean. 5. Define the term density. Is a physical property of matter, as each element and compound has a unique density associated with it 6. The salinity of seawater is also affected by the temperature of a body of water. Explain how temperature causes differences in the salinity of water. The amount of salt will effect the temperature of water.
